🗓️ When can I register?

You can register four times during the year.

💲 How much does it cost?

The main school fee is $20. This fee helps pay for:

  • Celebrations (graduation, student awards, etc.), Special Events (guest speakers, field trips), Student ID Card etc.

Are there other costs?

Yes. Some special programs have an extra fees. The amount is different for each program, like Childcare Assistant, and PSW.

How many hours are there per day?

A school day has three class periods. Each period is two hours long..

Do you have night or summer school?

We do not have night or summer school at our school. However, you can sign up for these classes with the TDSB. www.creditprograms.ca or www.ILC.org

Can I study part-time?

Yes! You can take one, two, or three courses each day. Each course is two hours. You are expected to be in class every day, Monday to Friday, for your full class time.

🚶 What is the attendance policy?

Attendance in all classes is mandatory. You are expected to be in class every day for your full two-hour period. If you are absent for more than 9 classes consecutively you may be withdrawn from that course. If you are going to be absent, please let your teacher know.

If you miss the first 3 days of classes without communicating your absence you will automatically be remove from your classes.

🎓 Do I earn credits?

Yes. When you successfully finish a two-hour course (which is 90 hours of in person study and 20 hours asynchronous), you will earn one credit.

🏫 Who can come to Yorkdale?

You can attend Yorkdale if you are at least 21 years old when classes begin. You must also be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Refugee with a valid Study Permit.

If you are under 21 but have your OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma), you may also be able to come.

Work permit or Visitors can apply through the international student office of the TDSB

What if I'm not ready for Grade 9?

If a placement test shows you are not ready for Grade 9, we will refer you to a local Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program to help you prepare.

What if I cannot speak English well?

If your English is not strong enough for high school courses, we may refer you to an ESL – Linc Program in your community to help you improve your English skills.

What do I need for admission?

You must show a high school transcript from Ontario that is less than five years old. If your transcript is from outside Ontario or is older than five years, you will take an English and Math assessment test to find your current level.

👶 Is there a daycare on site?

Yes, there is a daycare. It is called Start Right Day Care, and it is not part of our school. You must contact them directly to ask for a spot.

📝 What other services are on site?

  • There is a cafeteria where you can buy food.
  • The school has a Resource Centre where you can use computers and find books.
  • If you need special accommodations (help for learning, health, or other needs), please talk to a guidance counsellor or an administrator.
