
How Do I Apply For The Program?

Attend the information session held at Yorkdale
on Thursday, August 24th, at 10:00 A.M.(for September admission)
• Complete the application form
• Write the Pre-Admission Tests in English, Math and Science on Monday, August 28th at 9:00 a.m.
• Submit Ontario transcripts or equivalent documentation
• Successfully complete an interview
What are the Admission Requirements?• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Grade 12 English College Or University, general or advanced
• Grade 12 Math College Or University or grade 11 Math College Or University, general or advanced
• Grade 11 or 12 Biology, College or University; General or Advanced level
• Testing in English, Basic Science and Mathematics
• Interview
Where Can I Take The Pre-requisite Courses?
• English, Math and Science pre-requisites are available at the Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre
• Students may enrol in courses in September, November, February or April
How Long Is The Practical Nursing Diploma Program?
This two-year program is 4 semesters in length. The first semester may be taken at the Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre .
Students, upon successful completion of semester 1, will be granted advanced standing at George Brown College.
They will complete semesters 2, 3 & 4 at George Brown College. The first 3 semesters of this program are 14 weeks in length.
The fourth semester is 21 weeks long and includes a pre-graduate experience under the guidance of a preceptor.
The course runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
How Much Does The Program Cost?
• Students are required to purchase their nursing reference books and nursing materials
• The approximate cost is $1000
• Textbook costs for subsequent semesters at George Brown College will be considerably less

Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre and George Brown College have developed a collaborative registered practical nursing diploma program. Following successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to write the Registered Practical Nursing Examination. Upon successful completion of the examination, students will be granted a certificate of registration by the College of Nurses of Ontario and be eligible to practice as registered practical nurses in the Province of Ontario.
The program meets new entry-to-practice requirements adopted by the College of Nurses of Ontario and confers on the graduate a Practical Nursing Diploma from George Brown College.
The
first semester of the collaborative Toronto District
School Board/George Brown College RPN Diploma
Program may be taken at CALC or Yorkdale on September
2006. Students choosing to take the first semester
at CALC or Yorkdale will be granted advanced standing
and will enter semester 2 at George Brown College.
These students will also have the opportunity to earn secondary school diploma credits while completing semester 1 of the Practical Nursing Diploma. |
