successful completion of the Yorkdale English and
Mathematics Assessment

proof of successful completion of CPR (Basic Rescuer)
and First Aid (Standard) certifications prior to beginning
the program

a Certificate of Police Clearance and/or a Consent
to Disclosure may be requested by the healthcare facilities
in which students do their clinical co-op placements

Upon
Graduation From Yorkdale’s Practical Nursing Program,
You Will Be Prepared To:
- write
the College of Nurses of Ontario Registered Practical
Nurse Examinations. Students who pass the examination
with the College of Nurses and who meet the Entry
to Practice Regulations outlined in the Regulated
Health Professionals Act, Nursing Act 1991, will receive
a certificate of competence to practice as a Registered
Practical Nurse

pursue post-secondary education e.g., specialize in
gerontology, in Operating Room Nursing or investigate
an RN degree program
-
work in a variety of healthcare settings such as:
-
nursing homes and homes for older adults,
-
hospitals,
-
community agencies,
-
physicians’ offices,
-
long term care facilities,
-
progressive care,
-
rehabilitative care units.
There
are three major components to this program:
