Prerequisites for Careers Co-op

• pass the Yorkdale English Assessment
• pass an interview with a Co-op teacher
• have the educational background for career exploration

Duration of Co-op

• this program is two quadmesters (18 weeks) long
• your first five weeks will be spent in-school for 2 periods (4 hours a day), Monday to Friday
• after the first 5 weeks you will attend a volunteer co-op placement from Monday to Thursday (approximately 8 hours per day)
• your Fridays, during this period, will be spent in classes at Yorkdale that complement your experiences in the workplace
• new Careers Co-op sessions begin in September and February

Yorkdale’s All Careers Co-op Certificate Program is in high demand.

In just 18 weeks:
You will become a confident, independent career planner by:

• preparing winning resumes that sell your skills
• developing the communication skills needed for high impact interviews
• learning the universal skills employers value
• preparing a flexible, realistic career plan
• identifying growth industries and emerging career trends

You will achieve your career goals by:

• acquiring valuable Canadian work experience
• getting a business reference
• expanding your network and tapping into the hidden job market
• learning effective business communication skills
• exploring a new career
• or refining existing skills

Upon completion of the All Careers Co-op Certificate Program:

• you will receive a Yorkdale All Careers Co-operative Education Certificate
• 50% of our former students have been successful in finding employment on their own, by using the strategies we teach!
• other graduates have gone on to pursue post-secondary education in their chosen careers

To register in any of the certificate programs, come to Students Services between 8:30 and 3:30 to pick up a registration information letter and package.
