3O is offered as part of certificate programs only.
In
this course, students will learn how to prepare a flexible,
realistic career plan in preparation for a successful
transition to post secondary education and employment.
What
You Will Learn:
Unit One: Personal Knowledge and Management
Skills
Students will assess their personal characteristics,
interests, skills and achievements by examining their
portfolios and by analyzing the results through a variety
of inventories and personal assessments. Through a variety
of activities students will identify the personal management
skills that can contribute to success in the workplace
and summarize their own personal management strengths
and weaknesses.
Unit
Two: The Future
Students will investigate trends and predict their impact
on future work. The students will investigate the concepts
of transition and change and develop their ability to
prepare for and manage periods of change in their lives.
Unit
Three: Health and Safety
Students will learn the laws governing health and safety,
as well as their rights in the workplace.
Unit
four: The Workplace
Students locate opportunities in their field of interest,
produce effective resumes and cover letters and demonstrate
their skills effectively in employment interviews. Students
learn about the realities of the workplace while refining
their job search and employability skills through a
work experience. |
